Tony Iommi’s Long-Silent Solo Album Is Finally About to Speak
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi is set to reveal the first details of his long-awaited solo album. The official announcement will come during a YouTube livestream on Wednesday, July 29, at 10:30 a.m. EDT / 3:30 p.m. BST. A short teaser for Iommi’s upcoming music video has already been released, and in recent weeks the guitarist has kept fans guessing with a string of cryptic social media clues that turned into an online scavenger hunt.
In a New Year’s message posted in early January, Iommi promised the record would “definitely, definitely” arrive in 2026. He had previously explained that work on the album was interrupted while he prepared for Black Sabbath's farewell show, “Back To The Beginning, ” in July 2025, and again following Ozzy Osbourne’s death shortly after. Iommi said the project started out as an instrumental record before he decided to bring in a vocalist.
If released, it would mark his third solo album, following “Iommi” (2000), which featured guests such as Dave Grohl, Billy Idol and Brian May, and “Fused” (2005), recorded with Glenn Hughes.
