Tony Iommi announces new album From The Dark
Black Sabbath founder Tony Iommi has announced the worldwide release of his new solo album “From The Dark”, due out through BMG on October 23, 2026. The announcement came alongside the premiere of lead single “World Alone” at a special global streaming event held in Iommi’s hometown of Birmingham, near the Black Sabbath Bridge, which opened in 2019 as a civic tribute to the band.
The album features Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande, who previously performed alongside Iommi and other Heaven & Hell members at a 2010 tribute to Ronnie James Dio. Lande sings on all eight tracks and shares songwriting credits throughout, joined by bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil. Iommi co-produced the record with his longtime collaborator Mike Exeter.
“It’s an album we’ve really enjoyed making, ” Iommi said. “We’re not trying to prove anything — it’s a great album, it rocks!”
The tracklist opens with “Over The Violent Sun” and continues through “Black Times, ” “World Alone, ” “Beyond The Dead, ” “Stormwatcher, ” “Death Wake, ” “Return Of The Arbalist” and closer “Legacy.” The deluxe CD edition adds two bonus tracks, “Scent Of Dark” and an extended version of “Deified.”
“From The Dark” marks Iommi’s third solo album and his first in 21 years, following “Iommi” (2000) and “Fused” (2005). The release comes a year after Black Sabbath's farewell concert, “Back To The Beginning, ” held in Birmingham in 2025 shortly before the death of Ozzy Osbourne. A limited seven-inch single of “World Alone, ” backed with an instrumental version, is also set for release on September 4.
