The Beatles and Apple Corps Ltd announce official Global Beatles Day
The Beatles and Apple Corps Ltd have announced the creation of an official Global Beatles Day, to be celebrated every year on June 25. The date had already been marked by fans since 2009 as an informal tribute; it now gains official status with the backing of the group’s own estate.
The date commemorates one of the most significant moments in broadcast history: on June 25, 1967, The Beatles performed “All You Need Is Love” live from Abbey Road studios as part of the BBC special Our World — the first-ever global satellite television broadcast, watched by an estimated 400 million people worldwide.
To mark the first official Global Beatles Day on June 25, 2026, a newly colorized version of that historic performance will be made available free of charge on YouTube — the first time the footage has ever been accessible online. Fans around the world will be able to watch it together and share their reactions in a live chat. Further details about in-person and online events are to be announced.
