Metallica Donates $100,000 to Venezuela After Devastating Earthquakes

Metallica's charitable foundation, All Within My Hands, has granted $100,000 to relief efforts following the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela. The funds will be channeled through the foundation’s longtime partner, Direct Relief.

On June 24, Venezuela was hit by two back-to-back earthquakes measuring magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, striking less than a minute apart. More than 600 aftershocks have followed, complicating already difficult rescue operations. According to the United Nations, up to 6.8 million Venezuelans may have been affected, including people displaced or left without electricity and water. Early satellite analysis by NASA indicates that nearly 60,000 buildings may have been damaged or destroyed. The official death toll has exceeded 2,000, while more than 68,000 people were reported missing within the first three days of the disaster.

Direct Relief is coordinating with regional and local agencies to mobilize emergency medical aid and support search-and-rescue operations, including the deployment of the Spain-based rescue organization Bomberos Unidos Sin Fronteras. The funds will also go toward medical supplies for treating acute injuries and chronic conditions among those affected.

All Within My Hands was established by Metallica in 2017; the band covers all administrative costs, so 100% of donations go directly to the organizations it supports. Since its founding, the foundation has provided $19 million for educational programs, $8.8 million to fight food insecurity, and $6.2 million toward disaster relief efforts worldwide.
