L’haine: Spanish Rap Meets Trap and R&B in a Distinctive Sound

Spanish singer and rapper L’haine is set to perform at Sala Apolo in Barcelona, bringing his distinctive approach to contemporary urban music to the city’s live music scene. Blending rap, trap and R&B, his work combines melodic elements, introspective songwriting and versatile production to create a sound that moves between genres without settling into just one.

Behind the name L’haine is Juan Sáenz de Cabezón Aranoa, born in Logroño in 1999. He moved to Madrid in 2019, where he began establishing himself within Spain’s independent music scene. His early release Autobús Noctámbulo helped lay the foundations for his musical identity and introduced listeners to an approach shaped by contemporary urban sounds.

In 2021, L’haine released Patagonia, a collaborative project with producer NormanBate$. Two years later, he presented De la forma en que yo quiero, his first solo album. The record broadened his musical palette, bringing together trap and R&B with elements of pop, electronic music and afrobeat. It also features collaborations with Juicy BAE, Natalia Lacunza and Rusowsky, reflecting his openness to different creative perspectives.

Cinema is another important influence on L’haine’s artistic world. His interest in audiovisual storytelling complements his music, contributing to the atmosphere and visual identity associated with his work. Introspective lyrics remain a defining element, while varied production allows his songs to move between melodic passages and the rhythms associated with rap and trap.

The upcoming Barcelona concert offers an opportunity to experience L’haine’s music live and explore the work of an artist developing his own voice within Spain’s contemporary urban scene. The performance will take place at Sala Apolo, an established live music venue in the city’s Poble-sec neighbourhood.
