Finnish rock band The 69 Eyes present new single I Survive featuring Steve Stevens

Finnish gothic rock veterans The 69 Eyes have released a new single titled “I Survive”, featuring legendary American guitarist Steve Stevens, one of the most recognizable musicians in hard rock history, longtime collaborator of Billy Idol, and a Grammy Award winner for the instrumental track Top Gun Anthem. The release marks the band’s first new material following their signing with BLKIIBLK, a label operating under the Frontiers Label Group umbrella.

The song “I Survive” was written as a collaboration between frontman Jyrki 69 and Steve Stevens. According to the band, the track reflects the classic The 69 Eyes aesthetic — straightforward, energetic rock with a dark atmosphere and prominent melodic guitar work. The sound intentionally emphasizes a raw, live feel rather than excessive studio polish, highlighting the musicians’ experience and identity.

The final mix was handled by Barry Pointer, known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe, and other iconic artists of the heavy music scene. His involvement adds depth and balance between modern production and a classic rock approach, particularly evident in the guitar tones and rhythm section.

An official music video was released alongside the single, directed by Vicente Cordero. The video combines performance footage with studio scenes, creating a sense of immediacy and reinforcing the song’s driving energy. The visual style continues the band’s signature gothic aesthetic without relying on excessive narrative elements.

“I Survive” is now available on all major streaming platforms. The track runs for just under four minutes and maintains a mid-tempo pace, making it suitable for both radio rotation and live performances. The release is also seen as the first step toward the band’s next studio chapter, although no details about a forthcoming album have been announced.

The 69 Eyes were formed in Helsinki in 1989 and over the decades have developed a distinctive sound they describe as goth’n’roll — a blend of gothic rock, glam metal, and classic hard rock. The band has released more than ten studio albums, earned multiple gold and platinum certifications in Finland, and built a strong international cult following. One of their most well-known songs remains “Lost Boys”, which became a defining track for the band in the mid-2000s.

The current lineup has remained stable for many years and includes Jyrki 69 (vocals), Bazie (guitar), Timo-Timo (guitar), Archzie (bass), and Jussi 69 (drums). The new single featuring Steve Stevens represents a notable addition to the band’s discography and has already drawn significant attention from fans and music media.
