Spain’s Academy of Music Awards to Return to Madrid: 2026 Ceremony Date Announced
The Academy of Music Awards of Spain continue to strengthen their position as one of the key events in the country’s music industry. Organizers have officially confirmed that the third edition of the Premios de la Academia de la Música de España will take place on May 26, 2026, in Madrid, which will host the awards ceremony for the third consecutive year.
The event is organized by the Academia de la Música de España (ACAMUS), a professional association founded in 2022 by members of the music community. The Academy was created as an independent body aimed at bringing together artists, songwriters, producers, sound engineers and other industry professionals, as well as providing an objective assessment of music releases published throughout the year.
Submissions for the Academy of Music Awards Spain 2026 are now open. Musicians, labels and music industry professionals may submit their work until February 2, 2026, at 10:00 p.m. Madrid time via the Academy’s official website. Releases and projects published within the eligibility period established by the regulations are accepted, regardless of genre or commercial scale.
In a relatively short time, the awards have secured a prominent place on Spain’s cultural agenda. The second ceremony, held in 2025, demonstrated strong industry interest: organizers received nearly 5,000 submissions, with more than 140 artists and projects shortlisted. This made the event one of the largest national music awards in Spain.
Among the winners of the previous edition were Nathy Peluso, Amaia, Rozalén, Leiva and Estopa, along with other artists reflecting the genre and stylistic diversity of today’s Spanish music scene. The awards cover a wide range of categories — from pop and alternative music to urban genres, folk and experimental sounds — highlighting their commitment to representing the industry in its full breadth.
The first edition of the Premios de la Academia de la Música de España took place in 2024 and immediately outlined the project’s ambitions: to create a national counterpart to major international music awards, featuring a professional voting system and transparent selection criteria. Since then, Madrid has firmly established itself as the permanent home of the awards.
Organizers emphasize that the main goal of the awards is not only to recognize commercial success, but also to highlight artistic value, professionalism and musicians’ contributions to the development of Spanish musical culture. In this sense, the Academy of Music Awards of Spain are becoming not just an awards ceremony, but an important benchmark for the entire industry.
