Alok Makes History: Guinness Confirms Record-Breaking New Year’s Show at Copacabana Beach

Brazilian DJ and producer Alok has officially made history in the global music industry. Guinness World Records has confirmed that his performance on New Year’s Eve at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro became the largest New Year’s party in the world. According to organizers and independent observers, approximately 2.5 million people were present at the concert simultaneously.

The music show took place on the night of December 31, 2025, to January 1, 2026, and became the central event of Rio’s traditional New Year’s celebrations. City authorities noted that the total number of people gathered along Copacabana Beach and nearby areas may have been even higher; however, Guinness World Records recorded only the verified number of attendees located within the main concert zone during Alok’s set.

The DJ’s performance lasted about one hour and was accompanied by a large-scale technical production. More than a dozen stages were installed along the beach, and the climax of the night was a synchronized drone show featuring over one thousand drones. Light formations depicting Brazilian symbols and New Year’s messages appeared in the sky above the Atlantic Ocean, followed by a traditional fireworks display launched from several barges along the coastline.

The musical program of the celebration was not limited to electronic music. Throughout the night, well-known Brazilian artists representing various genres — from pop to national music — performed on different stages at Copacabana. Nevertheless, it was Alok’s set that became the key moment of the evening and gathered the largest number of spectators at the same time, allowing the world record to be officially registered.

Experts note that the new achievement highlights Rio de Janeiro’s unique status as one of the world’s leading centers for large-scale public celebrations. The free-access format, open-air location, and developed infrastructure enable the city to regularly host crowds numbering in the millions. At the same time, Alok’s record stands out as one of the largest music events of recent years, surpassing many iconic New Year’s celebrations in other countries.

The artist himself has remained one of the leading figures in electronic music for many years, both in Brazil and internationally. Alok consistently ranks high in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs, and his tracks have accumulated billions of streams on digital platforms. The new Guinness record marks a major milestone in his career and further solidifies his status as a global artist.

The official recognition by Guinness World Records turns the New Year’s show at Copacabana into not just a spectacular celebration, but a documented historical event that has now entered the chronicles of the global music industry.
