Status Quo Frontman Francis Rossi Shares New Songs from His Unexpected Solo Album
Francis Rossi, co-founder, guitarist and longtime frontman of legendary British rock band Status Quo, continues to unveil material from his new solo album. The musician has released two more tracks — “Push Comes To Shove” and “November Again” — which will be included on the upcoming record titled The Accidental.
Both songs are now available on digital platforms and offer a clearer picture of the overall direction of the forthcoming release. The new tracks are rooted in Rossi’s signature style, with a strong focus on guitar-driven sound, a solid rhythm section and melodic sensibility — hallmarks that have defined his music for decades. At the same time, the material does not feel retrospective, sounding fresh, confident and contemporary.
The release of The Accidental is scheduled for January 30, 2026. The album will be issued via earMUSIC and will be available digitally as well as on CD and vinyl. According to Rossi, the project began without any intention of recording a full-length album, which is precisely how it received its title. However, the creative process proved so natural and engaging that it ultimately resulted in a complete studio release.
This record will mark Francis Rossi’s first full solo studio album in seven years and represents an important milestone in his career outside of Status Quo. The album features contributions from musicians well known to fans of the band, including bassist John “Rhino” Edwards and drummer Leon Cave. Also involved in the recording were guitarist and co-writer Eiran Ilangantiliki, backing vocalist Amy Smith, and producer Andy Brook, who served not only as the recording engineer but also as a co-writer on several tracks.
Rossi has stated that much of the material was created in an atmosphere of live interaction, without rigid structures or pre-defined frameworks. The musicians worked quickly and intuitively, capturing ideas as they emerged, which ultimately gave the album a sense of cohesion and authenticity.
The tracklist for The Accidental will consist of 14 songs, including the previously released “Push Comes To Shove” and “November Again”. The album is expected to be a notable release not only for fans of Status Quo, but also for listeners who appreciate classic British rock that continues to evolve and find new expression decades later.
