Kiss Facility, Sega Bodega’s duo, announce two Spanish concerts

Artists should never be boxed into a single musical universe — doing so risks missing what makes them interesting. A good example is Sega Bodega (real name Salvador Navarrete), the Irish-Chilean producer who, since beginning collaborations with Oklou, Shygirl and Coucou Chloe within the NUXXE collective in 2017, has built an extensive web of creative ties — from Björk to Caroline Polachek, by way of Dorian Electra, Judeline and FKA twigs.

This time the focus is on his ongoing project with vocalist Mayah Alkhateri, known as Kiss Facility — an outlet for the producer to explore territory distinct from his solo work, drawing on Alkhateri’s Arabic roots and flowing into sounds that recall the ethereal world of Cocteau Twins.

Together, the duo released their debut full-length album, “Khazna, ” earlier this year — the Arabic word for “treasure” or “vault.” Sung entirely in Arabic, the record blends shoegaze, trip-hop and new wave textures around Alkhateri’s hypnotic voice, drawing on her Emirati-Egyptian heritage. The album is now the main impetus for the tour the duo will undertake after the summer. Kiss Facility’s two Spanish dates will take place in Madrid (Tuesday, November 3, Sala Uni) and Barcelona (Wednesday, November 4, Sala Upload).

Tickets go on sale tomorrow via the link on the Primavera Sound site.
