Nightwish singer Floor Jansen to release new solo single “Run” on Friday
Nightwish vocalist Floor Jansen will release her new solo single “Run” on Friday, June 26. The track marks the first taste of new solo material since her debut album “Paragon”, released in March 2023, which showcased the Dutch singer’s expansive vocal range across a mix of pop-infused songs and emotional ballads drawn from different chapters of her career.
On Saturday, June 20, Jansen shared the single’s cover artwork on social media, describing “Run” as a song about no longer making yourself smaller to fit a shape that was never yours — about taking off the mask, trusting your own movement, and daring to be seen that way. Musically, she called it the start of something new: a little heavier, a little more direct, but still honest, melodic and completely her. Fans had already heard “Run” performed live at several European shows earlier in June, including dates in Plzeň, Czechia, and at Sweden Rock Festival.
Jansen joined Nightwish in 2013 following the departure of previous singer Anette Olzon, and recorded the albums “Endless Forms Most Beautiful” (2015) and “Human. : II: Nature.” (2020) with the band, both reaching Top 10 charts worldwide. In April 2023, Nightwish surprised fans by announcing it would not be playing live shows for the foreseeable future, ruling out a touring cycle behind 2024's “Yesterwynde”. In November 2022, Jansen revealed she was cancer-free following surgery to remove a tumor tied to a breast cancer diagnosis.
