“Through Static and Shadows”: new series brings psychic mediumship to the world of heavy metal and horror
Production company M.A.S. Productions has announced “Through Static and Shadows”, a five-episode limited series placing heavy metal and horror culture in direct contact with psychic mediumship and clairvoyance. The show is hosted by Catherine Nadal — psychic medium, clairvoyant, author and retired US Army Reserve colonel, who has spent decades working with people through grief, personal challenges and spiritual growth.
The format’s defining principle is radical authenticity: Nadal arrives at each shoot with no prior knowledge of her guest, ensuring that every reading unfolds live and unscripted. Each episode is structured in two parts. The first is a tasseography session — Nadal reads the patterns left by coffee grounds in a guest’s espresso cup, drawing on this centuries-old practice to offer insight into their past, present and future. The second is a mediumship segment, in which she relays messages from deceased loved ones connected to the guest.
The series is directed by Mike Schiff, creator of the award-winning documentary “The History of Metal and Horror”. Confirmed guests include Acey Slade of the Murderdolls, Don Jamieson of TV’s “That Metal Show”, Fred Vogel of cult horror film “August Underground”, Felissa Rose of “Sleepaway Camp” and Lloyd Kaufman, founder of Troma Entertainment.
The series is currently in production. The creative team is actively pursuing distribution deals, sponsorships and financing to support future seasons across digital, streaming and broadcast platforms.
