Drums Of War Festival gathers extreme metal acts in Barcelona
After June and July’s whirlwind of festivals, it’s time for extreme metal: the new Drums Of War Festival will take place on August 27, 28 and 29 at Atlantic Events, in Barcelona’s Sants-Montjuïc district. The festival showcases every strand of extreme metal, from classic bands to younger acts that have joined the scene only in recent years.
The lineup brings together 31 bands: Hungary’s Tormentor, featuring Attila Csihar of Mayhem, Sweden’s Grave with an old-school set, Norway’s 1349 — who count Frost of Satyricon among their ranks — German thrash veterans Destruction, and Unleashed, who will mark the 35th anniversary of their classic album “Where No Life Dwells.” Younger acts on the bill include Night Eternal, Death Hammer, Nocturnal, Lik, Attic and Hellbutcher, among many others.
The schedule is split across three days: August 27 features Nargaroth, Messiah, Zemial, In The Woods… and Impiety, among others; August 28 is headlined by Tormentor, alongside Grave, Pestilence (with an old-school set), Onslaught and Vinterland; August 29 closes the festival with Destruction, Unleashed and 1349, joined by Impaled Nazarene, Aeternus and Hellbutcher.
