Finnish singer Tarja Turunen, who gained worldwide recognition as the former vocalist of Nightwish, is preparing to release a new studio album titled Frisson Noir, which is already being described as the heaviest record of her solo career.
The album is scheduled for release on June 12, 2026, and will mark an important milestone: it is Turunen’s tenth studio album and at the same time her sixth work in the symphonic metal genre. The new release comes after a significant break — her previous metal album, In the Raw, was released back in 2019, making this the longest gap in her discography.

The visual concept of the new era has also been partially revealed: it features dark, deep tones with accents of turquoise, purple, and bronze, emphasizing a dramatic and intense atmosphere.
The album title itself is also noteworthy. The word Frisson describes the “chill” sensation caused by strong emotional responses to music — the very effect Tarja Turunen aims to achieve with this material. Thus, the concept of the release is directly tied to its emotional impact on the listener.
Alongside the album announcement, the singer also unveiled the Frisson Live 2026 European tour, set to begin in the fall. The shows will take place in major cities including Berlin, Vienna, Hamburg, and Munich. The setlist is expected to include both new songs and key tracks from different stages of her career.
