Talking Heads to Release Rare Demos and Live Recordings for Record Store Day 2025: Album Tentative Decisions
The legendary American new wave band Talking Heads is preparing a special release for fans: the compilation of rare demos and live recordings Tentative Decisions will be released on vinyl for Record Store Day Black Friday 2025. The premiere is scheduled for November 28, and the record will be available in participating stores.
The album features early versions of iconic songs recorded between 1975 and 1976, as well as live performances, including a concert at the legendary Lower Manhattan Ocean Club. Tracks include “Psycho Killer”, “Tentative Decisions”, “Thank You for Sending Me an Angel”, and “The Book I Read”. These recordings allow listeners to hear how the band’s future hits were born and understand the process of developing their unique sound.
Tentative Decisions is more than a compilation: it is a historical archive reflecting the evolution of Talking Heads’ style. This release continues the band’s tradition of archival editions, such as Once in a Lifetime: The Best of Talking Heads (1992) and Bonus Rarities and Outtakes (2006), but focuses on the earliest demos and rare live recordings that were previously unavailable to the public.
For fans and music historians, the album is particularly valuable: it allows listeners to hear the band “from the inside” and understand the evolution of their sound from early experiments to iconic hits.
Tentative Decisions offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of one of new wave’s most influential bands and access material that until now remained hidden in the archives.
