Anthrax Completes First Album in 10 Years: Release Details and Band’s Future Plans
American thrash metal band Anthrax has officially completed mixing their new studio album — their first in a decade since For All Kings (2016). The final sessions took place at Studio 606 in California under the guidance of producer Jay Ruston, who previously worked with the band on earlier releases.
According to the band members, all instrumental and vocal parts are fully recorded, and the material has moved into the final mixing stage. Lead singer Joey Belladonna completed his vocal tracks during the summer and stated he is pleased with the results and the sound of the new songs.
Anthrax reported that they worked on the album from different cities: drummer Charlie Benante recorded in Chicago, Scott Ian recorded guitars in Los Angeles, and Frank Bello recorded bass in New York. Despite working remotely, the musicians emphasize that the final result is cohesive and powerful.
The band said the album will feature around 14 tracks, including some written even before the pandemic. One of the songs, according to Benante, combines aggression, melody, and a “high emotional charge.” Scott Ian recently noted in an interview that the new material includes “crushing riffs” and catchy choruses, maintaining Anthrax’s signature balance between thrash attack and melody.
The album cover is already finished, created by artist Mark Stutzman, who inspired Benante after collaborating on a project with illusionist David Blaine. The band describes the visual concept as “psychedelic” and energetic.
While the exact release date has not yet been announced, Anthrax confirmed they plan a world tour in 2026 to support the album. Before the end of 2025, the band intends to release their first new single in ten years.
