Meshuggah in Madrid: Four Decades of Redefining Extreme Metal
In 2027, Meshuggah will celebrate four decades of musical history with The Forty-Year Anomaly, an anniversary tour spanning Europe and the United Kingdom. The Swedish extreme metal pioneers will perform one exclusive show in Spain, bringing the tour to Madrid alongside special guests Periphery and Vildhjarta, two leading acts in the contemporary progressive metal scene.
Meshuggah in Madrid marks a major occasion for fans of a band whose influence has helped shape the evolution of extreme metal. Formed in Umeå, Sweden, in 1987, Meshuggah have developed a distinctive musical identity built around complex rhythmic structures, polymetric riffs, dissonance and an unmistakably heavy sound. Their innovative approach has influenced generations of musicians and helped redefine the boundaries of modern metal.
Over the course of their career, Meshuggah have released a series of landmark albums, including Destroy Erase Improve, Chaosphere, Nothing, obZen and Koloss. Tracks such as “Future Breed Machine”, “Rational Gaze” and “Bleed” have become defining works of extreme metal. Their latest studio album, Immutable, released in 2022, reaffirmed the continued relevance of their singular musical vision.
The Forty-Year Anomaly celebrates both Meshuggah’s legacy and their enduring presence in contemporary heavy music. The Madrid performance will take place at Palacio Vistalegre, one of the Spanish capital’s major live venues. With Periphery and Vildhjarta joining the bill, the event brings together three influential acts from the progressive and extreme metal landscape.
The concert will take place on October 21, 2027, at Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid. It will be the only Spanish date on Meshuggah’s European and UK anniversary tour, making it a significant opportunity for fans in Spain to experience the band live as they mark four decades of musical innovation.
