Duran Duran in Madrid: British New Wave Classics and a Band Still Moving Forward
On 6 November 2026, Duran Duran will perform at Movistar Arena in Madrid as part of their Free To Love Tour. The concert will be the British band’s only appearance in Spain in 2026. Doors are scheduled to open at 19:30, with the performance beginning at 21:00.
Formed in Birmingham in the late 1970s, Duran Duran became one of the defining acts of the British new wave movement. The band achieved international success during the 1980s by combining melodic pop, rock guitars, synthesizers and a distinctive visual identity. Their music videos helped shape the decade’s popular culture, while their sound influenced the development of mainstream pop and rock.
The group’s catalogue includes songs that have endured well beyond their original release period. Rio, Hungry Like the Wolf, Girls on Film, The Reflex, Ordinary World and Come Undone represent different sides of Duran Duran’s musical identity, from energetic pop-rock to more atmospheric, melody-driven compositions. In 2022, the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, recognising its contribution to popular music.
Duran Duran have continued to record new material rather than relying exclusively on their established hits. In April 2026, the band released Free To Love, a single featuring Nile Rodgers, the musician and producer who has collaborated with the group for decades. The track provides the name for the current tour and reflects the band’s ongoing creative activity.
The Madrid concert offers an opportunity to experience the work of a band whose distinctive approach has remained recognisable across more than four decades. By bringing together pop melodies, rock influences and electronic textures, Duran Duran have built a catalogue that continues to connect with audiences across generations. Their performance at Movistar Arena will also be the sole opportunity to see the group in Spain during 2026.
