Whitechapel are coming to Spain: the deathcore heavyweights headline for the first time
Whitechapel are returning to Spain — and this time they’re headlining. The deathcore outfit from Knoxville, Tennessee, have been one of the most influential forces in extreme metal for nearly two decades, and their ninth studio album, Hymns In Dissonance, released in March 2025 via Metal Blade Records, has cemented their status all over again. After two records that pushed the band into more experimental, melodic territory — 2019's The Valley and 2021's Kin — the band made a deliberate and uncompromising return to their heaviest roots. The reaction was immediate: critics across the board called it one of the strongest releases of their career.
Hymns In Dissonance is a concept album built around a demonic cult leader and the seven deadly sins. Guitarist Alex Wade described the creative direction plainly: the goal was to write the heaviest album of their career, something brutal and genuinely unsettling. Vocalist Phil Bozeman, widely regarded as one of the most formidable voices in extreme metal, delivers a performance with zero clean vocals and maximum aggression — backed by a production that marries early-era ferocity with nearly twenty years of compositional experience. Blabbermouth called it “white-knuckle, weaponized deathcore with brains, brawn and a point to prove.” Kerrang! gave it four out of five stars. MetalSucks praised it as one of the band’s heaviest offerings in years.
As part of the Burn Forever European Tour 2027, Whitechapel will play two Spanish dates: Friday, February 5, 2027 at Sala Lab/Wagon in Madrid, and Saturday, February 6, 2027 at Razzmatazz 2 in Barcelona. It marks their first headline visit to Spain after a four-year absence. Sylosis (melodic death/thrash, UK), 200 Stab Wounds (old-school death metal, Cleveland) and Tribal Gaze (death metal, Texas) round out a bill designed for those who like their metal without apologies.
