Nightwish To Begin Recording Eleventh Album In May 2027
Nightwish keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen has told Finland’s Chaoszine that the band will enter the studio to record its eleventh studio album in May 2027. He said the group has been working on new material for months and, in a separate interview with Bear Wiseman, revealed he has already written seven songs. Weeks earlier he had told the UK’s Metal Hammer that six were done.
Since the release of the band’s tenth album, “Yesterwynde, ” in 2024, Holopainen has recorded the third AURI album and toured it, while also working on a solo album due in 2027: the songs are already recorded, orchestrations are being finished with James Shearman, and final recording will take place in London later this year. Nightwish hasn’t played a live show in more than three years and has no touring plans for 2027 either — Holopainen said a return to the road could come as early as 2028.
