John Corabi Releases New Song “When I Was Young” and Reveals Details of Upcoming Solo Album New Day
Legendary American rock vocalist and guitarist John Corabi has released a new song titled “When I Was Young”, which will be featured on his upcoming solo album New Day. The track has become one of the key releases ahead of the album and is now available along with an official visualizer.
The new song noticeably stands apart from the hard rock sound many listeners traditionally associate with Corabi’s name. “When I Was Young” is a calm, melodic, and emotionally rich composition based on the musician’s personal life experience. According to the artist, the song is structured as an honest conversation between a grown man and his son, where memories of youth intertwine with reflections on the road traveled, mistakes made, victories achieved, and inevitable life changes.
Musically, the track blends acoustic and electric guitars, a gentle rhythm section, and elements characteristic of classic rock from the 1960s and 1970s. A mandolin is also featured in the arrangement, giving the song a warm, almost intimate atmosphere. Many critics have already noted that the song showcases a more mature and thoughtful side of John Corabi’s songwriting, emphasizing mood and storytelling rather than sheer power.
The song will appear on New Day, Corabi’s first full-length solo studio album consisting entirely of original material. The album is scheduled for release on April 24, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl. Recording sessions took place in Nashville, with production handled by Marti Frederiksen, known for his work with Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, and Buckcherry.
According to the musician, New Day is an album about renewal, maturity, and returning to one’s roots. Its sound naturally combines classic rock, blues, and soul influences, along with a live, unpolished feel typical of traditional rock recordings from previous decades. The album will feature twelve tracks, including “New Day, ” “Faith, Hope And Love, ” “1969,” “Your Own Worst Enemy, ” and “Everyday People.”
The recording sessions included contributions from well-known musicians such as Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses), Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke), Paul Taylor (Winger), and Evan Frederiksen, who handled rhythm section duties and multiple instruments. John Corabi himself performed the lead vocals and guitar parts, preserving the album’s strong personal identity.
In support of the album, John Corabi is planning a series of European live performances, with the tour expected to begin in early 2026. The musician has indicated that the new material will play an important role in the setlists alongside songs from his earlier projects.
John Corabi is widely known as the former frontman of Mötley Crüe during the early 1990s and as a member of bands such as The Scream, Union, and The Dead Daisies. Over the course of his career, he has earned a reputation as a versatile vocalist and songwriter, equally convincing in heavy rock formats and more intimate, reflective material.
The release of “When I Was Young” further suggests that the upcoming album New Day will become one of the most personal and mature works in John Corabi’s career, while the musician continues to move forward confidently, staying true to the classic values of rock music.
