Dave Grohl’s Daughter Launches Her Own Career: 19-Year-Old Violet Signs with Republic Records
Violet Grohl, the 19-year-old eldest daughter of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, has officially taken a major step in her own music career. The young singer and songwriter has signed a deal with one of the world’s leading labels, Republic Records, marking her transition from independent releases to the professional level of the music industry.
The agreement was made through the imprint Auroura Records, with representatives of Republic Records emphasizing that their interest in Violet was driven not by her last name, but by her distinctive voice, mature songwriting, and clear artistic vision. According to the label’s A& R team, her music combines emotional depth with a modern sound, positioning her as a representative of a new generation within the alternative music scene.
The announcement of the signing coincided with the wide release of Violet’s first solo tracks on major streaming platforms. The songs “THUM” and “Applefish”, previously available only on Bandcamp, are now accessible to a broader audience. Together, they showcase different facets of her artistry, ranging from raw, energetic alternative rock to more intimate and atmospheric compositions.
Shortly before that, Violet also released the song “What’s Heaven Without You”, dedicated to filmmaker David Lynch, who passed away in January 2025. The track was co-written with Persia Numan, daughter of musician Gary Numan, and producer Justin Raisen, known for his work with Kim Gordon and Charli XCX. According to Violet, the song was inspired by recent tragic events in Los Angeles, including major wildfires, and reflects her emotional response to the loss of a significant cultural figure.
Despite her young age, Violet Grohl already has notable experience in music. In 2023, she contributed vocals to the Foo Fighters track “Show Me How”, featured on the album But Here We Are. Earlier, she collaborated with her father on a cover of “Nausea” by the band X for the documentary What Drives Us, and has appeared on stage with Foo Fighters at concerts and charity events.
Violet is currently working on her debut album with producer Justin Raisen. According to preliminary information, the record is expected to be released in 2026, with Republic Records already describing the project as one of its key priorities for the coming years.
The signing with a major label confirms that Violet Grohl is steadily shaping her own artistic identity, gradually stepping out of the shadow of her famous father and establishing herself as an independent artist with long-term ambitions.
