Foo Fighters Complete Recording New Album, Grohl Hints at 2027 Tour
Last weekend, Dave Grohl announced directly from the stage in Tasmania that Foo Fighters have completed work on their new album — a significant milestone in the career of one of the most influential rock bands of the past three decades.
During the performance at the UTAS Stadium in Launceston on January 24, the band’s frontman told the audience between songs that they had recently finished “a whole bunch of new songs, ” accompanying his words with laughter.
In addition to this news, Grohl hinted that Foo Fighters will return to Australia and New Zealand before his next birthday in January 2027, giving fans hope for a global tour announcement in the near future. The new album will be the first since But Here We Are (2023) — a work that became an emotional breakthrough for the band after the death of their drummer Taylor Hawkins. This time, Grohl personally performed the drum parts, symbolizing the period of grief and resilience experienced by the band and their fans.
Earlier in 2025, the band had already released the singles “Today’s Song” and “Asking for a Friend, ” which give a glimpse into Foo Fighters' new creative phase — maintaining their characteristic energy, powerful melodies, and the musicianship of a band with over thirty years of experience.
The album’s title, tracklist, and release date remain under wraps. Nevertheless, Grohl’s words in Tasmania sparked an enthusiastic response among fans worldwide, who have been eagerly awaiting new material from the legendary Seattle band.
