ZZ Top Are Coming to Murcia — Over Fifty Years of Texas Blues Rock on One Stage

ZZ Top — the little ol' band from Texas, as they have always described themselves — are coming to Murcia on July 23, 2026, performing at the Plaza de Toros de La Condomina as part of the Murcia On summer festival. The show starts at 9:30 PM.

The band’s story begins in Houston in 1969, when Billy Gibbons — then fronting a psychedelic blues outfit called Moving Sidewalks — joined forces with bassist and vocalist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard, officially debuting as ZZ Top in 1970. Their foundation was the Texas blues of Muddy Waters, B.B. King and Jimmy Reed, filtered through the boogie rhythms and storytelling traditions of the American South. The early albums — ZZ Top’s First Album (1970), Rio Grande Mud (1971) and Tres Hombres (1973) — built a loyal audience across the American South through relentless touring before La Grange from Tres Hombres gave them their first major national hit. The Worldwide Texas Tour of 1976–1977, a 75-ton production with live Texas animals and a stage shaped like the state, became one of the legendary live spectacles of its era.

Global breakthrough came with Eliminator in 1983: over 10 million copies sold, three indelible singles — Gimme All Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man and Legs — and an MTV presence that made Gibbons and Hill’s matching long beards (which had, famously, grown independently during the band’s 1977 hiatus without either man knowing the other was doing it) into one of the most recognisable images in rock history. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, official Heroes of the State of Texas, and one of the most consistently impressive live acts of the past five decades.

Following Dusty Hill’s death in 2021, his bass duties have been handled by Elwood Francis — the band’s longtime guitar technician and the man Hill personally chose as his successor. The current live lineup of Gibbons, Beard and Francis continues to tour extensively. The ZZ Top concert in Murcia takes place at the Plaza de Toros de La Condomina, a historic bullring inaugurated in 1887 with a capacity of 15,000. Tickets available at iboleleproducciones.com. Under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian; under-18s require a signed authorisation form. Tickets on sale now.
