Wardruna presents the immersive live experience “Birna” in Madrid
The Norwegian ensemble Wardruna will return to Madrid for two special concerts dedicated to the live presentation of their new album “Birna”. The performances are scheduled for 3 and 4 December 2025 at The Music Station, located within the Príncipe Pío shopping complex. A second date was added following the swift sell-out of the initial show.
“Birna” expands on Wardruna’s exploration of Nordic nature, symbolism and seasonal cycles. Led by Einar Selvik, the group will present an immersive production where traditional vocal techniques, ritualistic percussion and ancestral folk textures form a cohesive musical narrative. Central to the album is the figure of the bear — the “Birna” — representing renewal, strength and a deep bond with the natural world. Tracks such as “Dvaledraumar” and “Jord til Ljos” illustrate the thematic passage from winter’s stillness to the re-emergence of light.
On stage, these elements translate into an atmospheric and meditative performance defined by a measured rhythmic pulse and the organic resonance of traditional instruments. Rather than a conventional concert, the event is crafted as a contemplative immersion in Wardruna’s sonic mythology.
