Poison The Well Return: Metalcore Legends Announce Peace In Place Album After 16 Years of Silence
American metalcore band Poison The Well have officially announced the release of a new studio album titled Peace In Place, which will be the band’s first full-length record in sixteen years. The album is set for release on March 20, 2026, via SharpTone Records, and is already being regarded as one of the most anticipated comebacks in the history of the genre.
The return of Poison The Well is accompanied by the release of the first single, Thoroughbreds, which arrived alongside an official music video. The track showcases the band’s signature blend of aggression, emotional intensity, and dynamic riffing, while avoiding any attempt to chase modern trends. Instead, the group remains firmly rooted in the sound they established in the late 1990s.
The album Peace In Place consists of ten new tracks. According to the band, the material was written without deadlines or external pressure, allowing them to focus entirely on substance and emotional honesty. Vocalist Jeffrey Moreira has stated that this may be the most aggressive and darkest album in Poison The Well’s catalog, as it is built upon years of accumulated experiences, inner conflict, and frustration. At the same time, the core theme of the record is not anger, but human connection, its fragility, and inevitable breakdowns.
Speaking about the single Thoroughbreds, Moreira explained that the song explores relationships that appear solid and unbreakable, only to fall apart at the moment when their permanence is most deeply believed. This idea runs throughout the album and forms its emotional foundation.
Physical editions of the album will also be available, including a limited Solid Gold vinyl pressing restricted to 500 copies. This release further emphasizes the album’s status as a significant event not only for longtime fans, but for the alternative music scene as a whole.
Poison The Well formed in Florida in the late 1990s and are widely recognized as one of the key bands in shaping metalcore as a genre. Their debut album, The Opposite of December… A Season of Separation, is considered a landmark release that influenced an entire generation of heavy bands. Following the release of The Tropic Rot in 2009, the band largely stepped away from studio work, appearing only sporadically for live performances and reunion shows.
The release of Peace In Place does not feel like an exercise in nostalgia. Instead, the new material sounds relevant and purposeful, reaffirming Poison The Well as an important and active voice within heavy music. The album is already being viewed as a major moment for metalcore and a reminder that legendary returns can be meaningful rather than symbolic.
