Megadeth announce farewell tour in Spain: legendary band confirms final concerts
Legendary American thrash metal band Megadeth have officially announced the launch of their farewell tour, which will mark the final chapter in the group’s more than forty-year career. As part of this tour, the band will perform several major concerts in Spain, confirming that 2026 will be a key year in the conclusion of their live activities.
The decision to embark on a farewell tour is linked to the release of Megadeth’s final studio album, which will be the seventeenth record in the band’s discography. The album is scheduled for release in early 2026, after which the group plans to gradually step away from touring. Band founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has previously stressed that this is a deliberate and definitive decision, not a temporary break or a marketing strategy.
Spain is among the countries selected for Megadeth’s full-scale headline shows. In May 2026, the band will perform in three cities: on May 25 in Valencia at Roig Arena, on May 27 in A Coruña at the Coliseum, and on May 29 in Bilbao at Bizkaia Arena BEC. These concerts will represent some of the last opportunities to see the band live as part of their final world tour.
According to the announcement, the setlists will span the entire career of Megadeth, from classic material of the Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction eras to songs from the upcoming album. The band is widely regarded as one of the defining forces of the genre and is a member of the Big Four of thrash metal, alongside Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax.
In addition to their headline shows, Megadeth have also been confirmed as headliners of Barcelona Rock Fest 2026, which will take place in early July in Barcelona. Their appearance at one of Europe’s largest rock festivals will form an important part of the Spanish leg of the farewell tour and is expected to attract fans from across the continent.
Ticket sales for the Spanish dates will be rolled out in stages, starting with pre-sales for fan club members and Resurrection Fest customers, followed by general public sales. Organisers anticipate strong demand due to the significance of the tour and its historical importance.
While specific dates have already been announced, the Megadeth farewell tour will not be limited to a single year. According to Dave Mustaine, the tour could extend over several years, allowing the band to say goodbye to fans in different regions of the world. Nevertheless, each newly announced show is already being viewed as a rare chance to witness the final chapter of one of the most influential metal bands of all time.
