Kamijo brings Sanctuary of Europe to Madrid: one night of visual kei royalty at Sala Nazca
Kamijo has spent over three decades building something that goes beyond genre: a world of dark aristocracy, vampire mythology, and baroque theatricality expressed through music, costume, and stage craft in equal measure. The founder and frontman of Lareine and Versailles, and a prolific solo artist since 2013, he is widely regarded as one of the defining figures of visual kei internationally. On September 26, 2026, he plays Madrid’s Sala Nazca — the only Spanish date on his European tour “Sanctuary of Europe”, which stretches from Helsinki to Budapest across eight cities and seven countries.
His story begins in 1994, when Kamijo launched Lareine, a band rooted in baroque aesthetics and darkly romantic Japanese rock. In 2007 he co-founded Versailles, which brought symphonic metal production values and neoclassical guitar work to a theatrical visual kei concept that found audiences far beyond Japan. His solo catalogue — built across albums including Symphony of the Vampire, Sang, Oscar, and the 2024 mini-album Violet Dawn — forms a continuous conceptual narrative centred on Louis XVII and the vampire world Kamijo has made entirely his own. In the summer of 2025 he relocated to Los Angeles to study film music composition and advanced vocal technique. Sanctuary of Europe is his first return to European stages since that move, and his first European solo tour since 2024.
