Def Leppard to Receive First Officially Authorized Documentary Film, Set for 2027 Release
In early 2027, cinemas are expected to host the premiere of Long Live Def Leppard, the first officially authorized feature-length documentary about the legendary British rock band. North American rights to the film have been acquired by Crosswalk, a division of Bleecker Street specializing in special-event theatrical releases.
The film’s director, writer, and one of its producers is Jeff Feuerzeig, known for the documentaries The Devil and Daniel Johnston and Author: The JT LeRoy Story. The project was made in close collaboration with the musicians and will feature previously unreleased footage, along with exclusive access to the members of Def Leppard.
The documentary will chronicle the band’s journey from working-class Sheffield to becoming one of the biggest rock acts in the world. Its story will cover the success of the albums Pyromania and Hysteria, drummer Rick Allen’s life-changing injury, the loss of guitarist Steve Clark, and the band’s subsequent return to the top.
Over the course of their career, Def Leppard have sold more than 110 million albums worldwide, earned two diamond certifications in the United States, and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
