Deep Purple Postpone European and UK Tour Following Ian Gillan’s Health Issue
Deep Purple have postponed the remaining dates of their SPLAT! World Tour in Europe and the UK until further notice after singer Ian Gillan required urgent medical attention at a hospital in Leipzig. In a statement released on November 2, Gillan said he had hoped to receive medical clearance to finish the tour, but continuing would involve “very serious risks”. The decision was made on the advice of his medical team and management.
The Leipzig show on October 31 and Hamburg concert on November 1 had already been called off. The remaining dates are also postponed: Dortmund and Berlin (November 3 and 4), Frankfurt and Nuremberg (6 and 7), Amsterdam (9), Strasbourg (10), Bordeaux (12), Nantes (13), Lyon (15), Newcastle (18), Glasgow (19), Birmingham (21), Manchester (22), and London (24 and 25). No replacement dates have been announced. The band and its team are working to reschedule the shows. Gillan thanked fans for their support and apologized for the inconvenience. Deep Purple have not shared further details about his medical issue.
