Megadeth Prepares Global Premiere of “Behind The Mask”: Official Trailer Released for Unique Cinematic Event
American metal band Megadeth has released the official trailer for the global film project Behind The Mask, which will be shown in cinemas worldwide as an exclusive one-time event on January 22, 2026. The anticipation is heightened by the fact that the following day marks the release of the band’s new album — their first in several years and one of the most awaited records in heavy music.
The Megadeth: Behind The Mask cinematic event will be available in over one thousand theaters across more than thirty-five countries, making it one of the most extensive global screenings in the band’s history. The film combines a documentary look at the group’s journey, rare archival footage, and in-depth commentary from Dave Mustaine, who for the first time speaks so openly about the creation of the new album and key moments from Megadeth’s 40-year legacy.
A major focus of the film is the detailed breakdown of every track from the upcoming album, turning the premiere into a unique listening experience for fans. According to Mustaine, Behind The Mask is “a personal message to listeners” and an opportunity to experience the band’s history together with its members, rather than simply watching a documentary. The project was created in collaboration with Trafalgar Releasing, a company known for premium one-night global screenings by major artists.
Tickets for the worldwide premiere went on sale on December 11, 2025, generating strong discussion across fan communities and media. At the same time, the band also announced a special one-day listening event in Nashville, where the album will be presented early to a limited group of fans.
The release of the film and the new album marks an important milestone in the career of Megadeth — a band whose legacy has defined the development of the global metal scene and inspired generations of musicians. Behind The Mask is set to become not only a documentary chronicle but also an emotional and historically significant event that unites fans across the world.
