La Mercè 2025 in Barcelona: the city’s biggest festival
From September 23 to 28, 2025, Barcelona will once again host La Mercè, the annual celebration in honor of the city’s patron saint, Our Lady of Mercy. For six vibrant days, the streets come alive with free concerts, street performances, traditions, and cultural events that attract both locals and international visitors.
Highlights include the breathtaking castellers (human towers), the lively parades of giants, the fiery correfoc with fireworks and mythical creatures, and the BAM & Música Mercè concerts spread across the city. This year’s guest city is Manchester, bringing an international flavor to the festivities.
The festival closes with the iconic piromusical at Montjuïc, a magical combination of fireworks and music that lights up the Barcelona sky. La Mercè is more than a festival — it’s the heart and soul of the city in September.
