Richard Bellia to Bring His Historic Rock Photography to Barcelona

French photographer Richard Bellia will present a selection of his historic music photographs in Barcelona from October 16 to 18 at La Vinícola, located at 123 Girona Street.

Since beginning to photograph musicians in the early 1980s, Bellia has documented major figures from both live performances and studio sessions. His archive includes photographs of The Cure, The Clash, Nirvana, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Siouxsie, Pulp, Slowdive, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cocteau Twins, The Cramps, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Fontaines D.C. and Midnight Oil, among many others.

Over four decades, Bellia has built an archive of more than a thousand photographs, with part of his work collected in the book Un Oeil Sur La Musique: Textos y fotografías 1980-2016. Despite his long career as a photographer, Bellia has repeatedly emphasized that music remains his first passion.

The exhibition will open on Friday, October 16, at 10:30 a.m. At 7:30 p.m., Bellia will take part in a talk moderated by Joan S. Luna, editor-in-chief of Mondo Sonoro. On Saturday, October 17, the exhibition will remain open until 7 p.m., followed by an acoustic concert. The event will conclude on Sunday, October 18, with another acoustic performance and a closing vermouth.
